(Biddeford, Maine) Biddeford Saco Old Orchard Beach Transit (BSOOB Transit) is excited to announce that enhanced real-time bus information is now available on the company webpage. Today, December 18th, BSOOB Transit has updated the agency website with a new system map that identifies route location in real time, along with distributing vehicle location to common transit applications such as Google Transit and the Transitapp.com.
In addition to the technology upgrades that will provide easier access to trip information, BSOOB Transit has also worked with municipal partners to refresh the on-street bus stop signage. The new signs are being installed in the partner communities of service and will have highly reflective stop signs with route identifiers.
“These two actions are important for customers and those interested in public transit,” said BSOOB Transit Executive Director Chad Heid. “The new physical signs and digital trip information will help our community more easily understand bus routes and make the entire system more user-friendly. We strongly encourage the community to visit our website to see bus location in real time, along with predictive service information.”
Real-time information for vehicle locations and arrival/departure predictions are made available for free by BSOOB Transit through data feeds that developers can use to integrate to multiple applications. Real-time bus service information is part of the BSOOB Transit strategy to employ technology to improve the customer experience.
“We are thrilled our customers now have access to real-time service information in the palm of their hand,” stated BSOOB Transit Committee Chair Kenny Blow. “The new technology will benefit riders by enabling them to make travel decisions using real-time information.”
